Overview

The drinkability alert report is meant to provide insight into community consumption trends to help guide your drinking beyond what the drinking windows provide (a static window, unresponsive to actual consumption data).

FAQs

How often is the report generated?

The report is emailed on a quarterly basis.

How are the wines in the "Heating Up" section determined?

The "Heating Up" section reveals the top wines (capped at the top ten) from your cellar whose consumption rate has increased more than expected over the past three months.

How are the tasting note summaries generated?

The tasting note summaries look at the last 6 months of tasting notes written for the wines that are surfaced in the "Heating Up" section. We then use AI to pull out the relevant details on how that wine is drinking, including details on how long to decant, whether the wine will still be good if held for a few more years, and even why the member opened the wine in the first place (i.e. to "check-in" on it).

Some of the "Heating Up" wines seem very young. I would never open them now. Is this report correct?

The "Heating Up" wines might be ready to drink or they might need a few more years. We are surfacing the wines because people are starting to drink them faster than expected. The tasting note summaries can help you better understand if it's worth opening a bottle now.

How are the wines in the "Drink Now" section determined?

"Drink Now" wines are over 85% consumed based on all the bottles held by the CellarTracker community. The calculations also try to weed out bottles from users who aren't keeping their cellars up to date. Even if you like your wines towards the end of the community drinking windows, wines that are 85%+ consumed are usually at the end of or past that window.

I don't see any wines listed in my Drink Now section. Is there something wrong with the report?

This is possible, especially if you stay on top of your inventory and/or like to drink wines earlier in their window.

I expected to receive a report, but I didn't. What happened?
